The judge tells the handler to begin, and the dog and handler proceed at their own pace through a course of designated stations (10 - 20, depending on the level). Each of these stations has a sign providing instructions regarding the next skill that is to be performed. Scoring is not as rigorous as traditional obedience.

Dogs do not have to be purebred to take the CGC test. More details about the test can be found on our “Canine Good Citizen” link.  Please read our Canine Good Citizen page for more details.

Dog agility is where a handler directs their dog through a series of obstacles, such as a teeter, jumps and tunnels. This class is taught in six-week continuous sessions and cost is $100. Dogs must be at least 5 months old and be able to sit, down, stay and come.

NOVICE TRICK DOG CLASS:

AKC recently added a New Title called Trick Dog.

The Novice test requires the dog to perform 10 tricks but a CGC title counts as five (at Novice level). Dogs with a CGC can quickly move on and work at the Intermediate title.

This is an introductory class so no prior experience is necessary but it would be beneficial if the dogs already know basics like sit, down and work on a flat collar and leash.
